The award is presented annually on the World Physiotherapy Day, September 8. The prize consists besides the honor, of a certificate, flowers, and a prize sum of 25 000 SEK.

– I am very honored and of course happy, proud, and thankful. This is not something I have achieved on my own, but together with colleagues and teams both within the profession as well as interprofessionally, says Malin Nygren-Bonnier.

Malin started research on rehabilitation after COVID-19 early, and through her diligent work in research, clinically as well as in education, she has highlighted the important role of the physiotherapist in this area.

– As a profession, we can make significant contributions in this pandemic, and for this group of patients. We have shown that we have been important in the whole process from the acute stage to rehabilitation afterwards, which I hope and believe will make a difference for COVID-19 patients and for those with post-COVID symptoms, Malin Nygren-Bonnier concludes.
