KIRI Research Project awarded best oral presentation in prestigious conference
The collaborative work of KIRI Fellows was chosen as one of the top 20 breakthroughs abstracts of the year.
The collaborative work of KIRI Fellows Georgios Sotiriou and Qiaolin Deng and postdoc Andrea del Valle, was chosen as one of the top 20 breakthroughs abstracts of the year at the Controlled Release Society annual meeting that was held in Bologna, Italy in July 2024.
The project Phenol-based Nanoparticles Prevent Hyperglycemia-related Detrimental Effects on Placenta Development was presented in the newly opened session Women's Health for Everyone's Health, where scientists around the world shared their views on new technologies for women's health. The project was awarded second place among all the oral presentations.
“This award shows the importance of an interdisciplinary research collaboration, where two disciplines merge to bring new discoveries to everyone. We really hope that more funding initiatives such as KIRI keep coming in the future. Our presentation in this prestigious conference showed to the world that Karolinska Institutet is making large technology advances in the area of pharmaceuticals and nanotechnology”.
