Daniel Helldén receives the Dimitris N. Chorafas Prize 2024
The Prize (USD 10.000) is meant to reward pre-graduate scientific contributions within the doctoral education. The candidate should not have reached the age of 32 years at the time he/she is nominated to the prize. The prize will be awarded at the Installation Ceremony of Karolinska Institutet.
Daniel Helldén at the Department of Global Public Health is awarded the prize for his thesis ‘Impact of non-health sector determinants on child health the role of the Sustainable Development Goals : models, practices and perceptions in Cambodia and globally’
Daniel is a resident in pediatrics at the Astrid Lindgren Children´s Hospital, Karolinska University Hospital Solna, and conducts research on the impact of climate change on child health.
Prize motivation:
Daniel Helldén has demonstrated great methodological breadth, ranging from qualitative methods to machine learning/big data, within the context of sustainable development goals and children’s health. His impressive scientific output has been published in top journals, and he exhibits significant scientific maturity. Daniel has effectively combined his research training with clinical work as a pediatric resident, along with teaching and responsibilities in global health. These efforts pave the way for the implementation of the results in clinical practice.
