Lectures and seminars Opponent Seminar: "Discovery of the glucose-sensing pathway shared by pro-longevity factors"
We are pleased to welcome Professor Sheng-Cai Lin, PhD, School of Life Sciences, Xiamen University, China, for an opponent seminar at Biomedicum.
Professor Lin is a molecular biologist and biochemist whose research focuses on how physiological fluctuations in glucose are sensed and translated into biological responses. His laboratory discovered the lysosomal glucose-sensing–AMPK pathway, which links glucose availability to the regulation of AMPK and mTORC1 and has important implications for metabolism, health, and longevity.
In his seminar, Professor Lin will discuss the molecular mechanisms of glucose sensing and how this pathway is engaged by pro-longevity factors, including metformin and lithocholic acid. He will also present recent work on aldometanib, a glucose-starvation mimetic targeting aldolase, and the emerging potential of metabolic intervention to enhance antitumor immunity.
