Participants sought for studies Are you an Indian expat living in Sweden? Do you want to participate in a treatment study on dysfunctional worry?
Many people are feeling worried and anxious these days in response to the pandemic, climat change and other global crises. Researchers at Karolinska Institutet are evaluating an online-based English CBT treatment program for expats in Sweden who are experiencing excessive and dysfunctional worry in relation to covid and global crises. At the moment the study is focusing on expats originating from India and currently living in Sweden.
Study in brief
Worries related to pandemic and other global changes are in many cases justified given the current uncertain climate. However, worrisome thoughts may become dysfunctional and disproportionate and impact everyday life in a negative way. Previous research studies have indeed shown that the Covid pandemic may lead to increased levels of psychological distress.
Researchers at Karolinska Institutet have recently developed and evaluated a self-guided treatment program for people with excessive worry in relation to these crises. The next step is to adapt this program to English and make it available for various expat populations living in Sweden. At the current stage, the researchers aim to focus on expats from India who are currently living in Sweden.
The design of the study
The program offered is a five-week psychological treatment that is provided online. It is text-based and you will work with the material independently at home. You will have an assigned therapist that guide you through the program.
