About 46 MSEK from the Swedish Research Council to KI
The Swedish Research Council has awarded a little more than SEK 46 million to researchers at the Karolinska Institutet in the areas of science and technology; humanities and social sciences; project grants for international collaborations in antimicrobial resistance; and project grants for international collaborations in personalized medicine.
Science and technology
- Camilla Björkegren, at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition and at the department of Cell and Molecular Biology, has received a grant for the project "Hur påverkas kromosomstabilitet av transkriptions-inducerade förändringar i DNAts struktur? Analys av SMC-proteinkomplex.” with a total of 3 200 000 SEK over a five year period.
- Claudia Kutter, at the Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology, has received a grant for the project ”Avtäckande roller av transkriptionell komplexitet” with a total of 3 300 000 SEK over a five year period.
- Janne Lehtiö, at the Department of Oncology-Pathology, has received a grant for the project ”Molekylär analys av cancerfenotyp med robust och snabb proteomikanalys” with a total of 3 520 000 SEK over a five year period.
- Bennie Lemmens, at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, has received a grant for the project ”DNA-replikation och reparation: en klarare bild av timing och terapier” with a total of 3 000 000 SEK over a five year period.
- Christian Riedel, at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition, has received a grant for the project ”Mekanistiska studier av hur transkriptionsfaktorn DAF-16/FOXO reglerar åldrande” with a total of 3 520 000 SEK over a five year period.
- Herwig Schüler, at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition, has received a grant for the project ”Regleringsmekanismer hos ADP-ribosyltransferaser PARP10 och PARP14” with a total of 4 132 000 SEK over a five year period.
Humanities and social sciences
- John Axelsson, at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, has received a grant for the project ”Den uppvaknande hjärnan: Hur snabbt vaknar vi upp, och faktorer som predicerar uppvaknandet?” with a total of 5 000 000 SEK over a five year period.
- Carin Lennartsson, at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society, has received a grant for the project ”Stålar och stöd. Utbyte av pengar och omsorg mellan äldre föräldrar och vuxna barn och dess konsekvenser för ojämlikhet.” with a total of 4 200 000 SEK over a five year period.
- Goran Papenberg, at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society, has received a grant for the project ”Människans kognitiva åldrande: Betydelsen av ackumulering av järn i hjärnan och inflammation” with a total of 5 800 000 SEK over a five year period.
- Johan Åhlén, at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience and at the Department of Public Health Sciences, has received a grant for the project ”Prevention av ångestsyndrom hos barn till föräldrar med ångestproblematik” with a total of 5 400 000 SEK over a five year period.
Project grants for international collaborations in antimicrobial resistance (JPIAMR)
- Volkan Özenci, at the Department of Laboratory Medicine, has received a grant for the project ”IDx: En undersökning av regulatoriska, företagsekonomiska, relationella och tekniska hinder för global användning av diagnostik i kampen mot antibiotikaresistens” with a total of 429 200 SEK over a three year period.
Project grants for international collaborations in personalized medicine (ERA PerMed)
- Lena Krumlinde Sundholm, at the Department of Women's and Children's Health, has received a grant for the project ”En kombination av biomarkörer och Tele-Hälsa-lösningar som grund för hembaserad individualiserad intervention av övre extremiteten hos barn med Hemiplegi efter Stroke” with a total of 908 688 SEK over a three year period.
- Mattias Rantalainen, at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, has received a grant for the project ”Utveckling av AI-baserade bröstcancer histopatologi för personaliserad medicin” with a total of 3 911 848 SEK over a three year period.
