The ANA Futura service team awarded KI’s Workplace Environment Award

Karolinska Institutet’s Work Environment Award 2025 has been awarded to the ANA Futura Service Team at the Department of Laboratory Medicine. The award recognises their dedicated efforts to create a safe and well-functioning work environment in a complex research setting.
The Work Environment Award is presented annually to highlight good examples of systematic and sustainable work environment management at KI. The motivation, particular emphasis is placed on the ANA Futura Service Team’s long-term and systematic work on laboratory safety:
“The ANA Futura Service Team is awarded KI’s Work Environment Award 2025 for its long-term and systematic work on laboratory safety in a complex and challenging research and education environment.”

”This award is a testament to the fact that long-term, structured work on laboratory safety makes a difference to our core operations,” says Lars Frelin, Director of the ANA Futura Service Team.
Coordination and structure
Through coordination, structured onboarding, and accessible support, the team enables both new and experienced staff to work safely and correctly – strengthening the overall safety culture at KI.
“It is a recognition of how structures, expertise, and accessible support and services together enable a safe and sustainable research and education environment,” says Tommy Eklund, Coordinator in the ANA Futura Service Team.
The prize and diploma were presented by Vice-President Martin Bergö, Chair of KI’s Safety Committee, at a lunch held at the Faculty Club Svarta Räfven in Aula Medica on 8 June.
The award is clearly valued at the department:
