Rasmus Stenlid awarded the Wallenberg-Bienenstock Postdoctoral Fellowship
Rasmus Stenlid has been awarded the Wallenberg–Bienenstock Postdoctoral Fellowship, a grant funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. The aim is to give outstanding researchers who have recently completed their PhDs at a Swedish university the opportunity to conduct postdoctoral research at Stanford University.

Rasmus Stenlid combines his work as a cardiologist at Södersjukhuset with a postdoctoral position in Per Svensson’s research group on coronary heart disease at KI SÖS, alongside Per Svensson and Robin Hofmann.
During his two-year stay at Stanford, he will be part of Associate Professor Lisa Goldman Rosa’s research group at the Department of Epidemiology. The research focuses on the prevention of cardiovascular disease, with a particular emphasis on nutrition-based interventions in high-risk populations.
The project investigates how dietary interventions can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by influencing cardiometabolic risk factors. It also examines whether these effects are influenced by concurrent treatment with GLP-1 receptor agonists, a class of drugs that affect appetite and metabolism. The aim is to increase knowledge of how drug treatment and behavioural interventions can work together to improve cardiometabolic health, particularly in groups with limited access to healthcare.
“For me, this fellowship is a unique opportunity to take the next step in my research career and to continue developing as an independent researcher. It gives me access to a world-leading research environment and the chance to work on some of the most pressing issues in cardiovascular prevention. I feel both humbled and grateful for the great honour and the trust this represents,” says Rasmus Stenlid.
Following his postdoctoral period, Rasmus Stenlid plans to return to Sweden and the Karolinska Institute, where he hopes to contribute new research methods, experience and international collaborations.
