Nursing 20 years at KI
The Division of Nursing held an Open House during the afternoon of November 29th to celebrate 20 years at KI. It was an afternoon filled with both history and faith in the future.
With the strong development in these 20 years, both education and research in nursing have taken great strides forward. For example, the nursing program at KI is today ranked as 1st in Sweden and 5th in the world. The nursing started as a separate department, but is today one out of eight divisions at NVS.
The afternoon had a solid program. Lectures was held by Maria Eriksdotter, Head of Department; Ann Langius-Eklöf, Head of Division of Nursing and Ole Petter Ottersen, President of KI. Furthermore, a conversation about the profession of nursing now and then was held between mother and daughter.
Mother Margareta Wahlberg graduated 65 years ago and daughter Anna Carin Wahlberg is senior lecturer and t.s. Departmental educational coordinator at the department and associate professor. Professor Ulla Waldenström offered a historical retrospect and after mingling with music entertainment, a panel discussion took place.
Professor Yvonne Wengström, PhD student Tina Gustavell, Professor Ulrica Nilsson and Professor Ulla Waldenström participated. Moderator was Ann Langius-Eklöf. Both the panel and the audience contributed in the discussion, which resulted in the fact that much good has been done, but there is still a lot of exciting issues to develop further.
The day ended up having a quiz around the house.
