International opportunities in focus for biomedicine students
What is it like to spend a semester studying in another country, and what opportunities are available to KI students who want to go on exchange? On 28 October, students from the Bachelor's Programme in Biomedicine and the Master's Programmes in Biomedicine and Toxicology came together for the International Day of the Biomedicine Programmes.
During the afternoon, students had the opportunity to learn more about gaining international experience as part of their education and explore the exchange opportunities available at KI.
Jonas Sundbäck, academic international coordinator, presented partner universities and international collaborations, including Eurolife and the Baltic Sea Network. Giulia Grillo Mikrut, international officer, explained how exchange studies work in practice, from applications and choosing a destination to grants and insurance.

Incoming students shared their experiences
But international studies are about more than the application process itself. An important part of the day was therefore the international exchange fair, where KI students had the opportunity to meet incoming exchange students and hear about their experiences first-hand.
Students from eleven partner universities across nine countries were represented at the fair, including Germany, the UK, Australia and Singapore. They shared their experiences of studying abroad and introduced their home universities, giving KI students the opportunity to ask questions, gain new perspectives on different study destinations and make international connections.

Build your network through exchange
Going on exchange is a great opportunity to discover new ways of studying while expanding your professional and social network. Biomedical students, in particular, are often keen to connect with peers from different countries, and an exchange experience is one of the best ways to do that, said biomedicine student Ivan Morozov, who visited the fair.
By combining practical information with personal experiences from international students, the day gave a clear picture of what an exchange period can involve, both academically and personally, and hopefully inspired more students to take the step out into the world during their studies at KI.
