Help us meet & greet new KI students

We are looking for students to join us in welcoming all new students starting at KI this fall semester of 2024. There are many roles and shifts available for you to get involved. Take this opportunity to meet new people and at the same time earn some extra money. Read more about the different opportunities and how to apply below.

Introduction week 

The week before the semester starts, activities are arranged to welcome new students. The introduction week starts with arrival days and continues with preparations and social activities before the studies start. 

KI meets and welcomes new students who arrive by flight at Stockholm Arlanda Airport during arrival days Saturday 24 August and Sunday 25 August between 10:00 - 20:00. Working during arrival days you are the KI representative and the first person the new student meets. Your job is to welcome the student, answer questions, and help them by informing them how to get to KI or their accommodation. 

You work in shifts of five hours (10:00 - 15:00 and 15:00 - 20:00). You can work as many shifts as you like. You will be a team of about 3-4 students per shift. Payment for one shift is 750 SEK. You will be reimbursed for the ticket cost to and from Arlanda airport (travel hours are not included). 

On Monday, the first day of introduction week the student union (MF) welcomes the new students on campus Flemingsberg and Solna. KI will have an information table on-site to answer questions from the new students. Your job will be to help the new students and answer any questions. The work shifts are two - three hours. 26 August at 12:00-15:00 on campus Flemingsberg, 26 August at 15:00 - 17:00 on campus Solna, and 2 September at 16:00 - 19:00 on campus Solna. 

Thursday, August 29 the new exchange students need to visit the Student Wellbeing Centre on campus Solna to do their health clearance. Your job will be to meet the students by the information table and guide them to Student Wellbeing Centre. You will also answer questions from the students. The work shift is three hours, 12:30 - 15:30.

Friday, August 30 all new students are invited to KI Welcome Day including ceremony and fair in Aula medica on campus Solna. As a student worker, you will help out during the ceremony and fair. You will, among other things, meet and guide the students to their seats for the ceremony, and help out during the fair in closet and distributing KI backpacks. The work shift is five hours, 12:00 - 17:00.

If you are an international student, you need to have a Swedish personal identity number in order to recieve the payment. Last day to apply is May 19.

Welcome ceremony Aug. 30th

On August 30th KI welcomes all new students at our global master's programme and exchange students with a ceremony and fair in Aula medica on campus Solna. During the ceremony, new students are welcomed to KI with speeches, entertainment, and inspirational talks. The ceremony starts at 13:30 – 14:30. We are looking for two students for the roles of student hosts and four students to join the student panel. To apply for the positions as hosts and student panel for the ceremony on August 30th you need to be a student at one of our global master's programme. Read about the roles and how to apply below. 

We are looking for two students for the positions as hosts for the ceremony. As a host, you and your colleague lead the ceremony and welcome the new students and present the program and speakers. You write the script on your own but with support from KI's communications officers. For this position, you need to feel comfortable speaking English in front of a large audience. 

You need to be able to participate in the rehearsal in the afternoon of August 29th (about 2 hours) and on August 30th from 12:30 – 14:30. You will also need to prepare on your own. The payment is SEK 1,350, which includes preparation time on your own, script writing and participating during rehearsal and ceremony. Let us know if you know somebody who is also applying for the position as host that you would like to host the ceremony with. Please apply separately. 

We are looking for four students representing different educational programmes to join the student panel. The student panel is one of the most appreciated programme items of the ceremony. The panel shares experiences and advice with the new students. For this position, you need to feel comfortable speaking English in front of a large audience. 

You need to be able to participate in the rehearsal in the afternoon of August 29th (about 1 hour) and on August 30th from 13:30 – 14:30. You will also need to prepare on your own. The payment is 750 SEK.

Write a letter of application where you tell us a bit about yourself, your student life at KI and why you would like to work as a host or panel during the Welcome Ceremony. Send the application to ki-student@ki.se no later than May 19. Let us know if you have any similar experience.
