Digital Cleanup Week – theme week on digital storage and sustainability

Between 16 and 20 March, you can take part in lectures, drop-in sessions and interactive educational material focusing on how the storage of digital information and the use of digital tools can affect both the climate and the working environment.
Just as we maintain classrooms, laboratories and offices, we need to review our digital environments on a regular basis. By clearing out unnecessary files, we not only reduce our climate impact, we also promote well-being.
Every email stored, every duplicate dataset and every unused app consumes energy around the clock through servers around the world. Digital waste contributes to carbon emissions and at the same time creates hidden noise in our working day.
Digital Cleanup Week is about raising awareness and, in the long term, changing behaviours around how we handle digital information — for a better working environment and reduced climate impact.
Planning is in full swing and more details about the programme and content will be published as they become available.
Daily themes
Each day of the week will touch on a related theme, such as:
- Background: How digital technology affects the climate and the (working) environment.
- The link between digitalisation and the climate.
- Archives & records management: What can I throw away?
- The digital working environment.
- Summary of this week's content – tips and things to think about going forward.
The seminars will be held in Swedish - for the full programme of the week, see this article.
