Carsten Daub is newly appointed scientific director for SciLifeLab. He will act as the link for the collaboration between one of Sweden's largest research centers and Karolinska Institutet.

The mission of the scientific director is to represent Karolinska Institutet (KI), to coordinate and support management in issues related to SciLifeLab, and basically be the link between KI and SciLifeLab.

"I'm really looking forward to start working with this", says Carsten Daub.

Carsten Daub has broad experience within several parts of KI and SciLifeLab. He has for example been group leader at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition and SciLifeLab since 2012.

Currently he works with KI’s reference group for the Data Driven Life Science (DDLS) Research School and is responsible for KI's part of NGI (National Genomics Infrastructure), among other things. Since last year he is director of the Centre for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics at KI.

"I would like to specifically work with the SciLifeLab Fellows and their group members to define my priorities as new scientific director. The DDLS Research School will start in 2024 and there are exciting opportunities to recruit DDLS doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers to KI", says Carsten Daub.
