KI Lifestyle4Health seminar

Speaker: Jenny Löhr

About the speaker

Jenny Löhr, Head of the Development Office at Karolinska Institutet, leads KI’s strategic work to increase external funding from private individuals, companies, and foundations. Her team works closely with researchers and university leadership to create strong conditions for world‑class medical research and to connect donors with areas that match their interests and engagement

Seminar description

In this session, Jenny Löhr will present how KI works with private donors, philanthropic foundations, and corporate partners to support research across the university. She will discuss how the Development Office identifies donor interests, matches them with relevant scientific expertise, and facilitates meaningful, long‑term relationships between researchers and supporters.

Jenny will describe the work that follows when a private donor expresses interest in a specific disease area or research topic. The session will walk participants through the process from the first inquiry to the preparation of tailored materials that help donors understand the importance, impact, and scientific potential of a project. The value of communicating complex biomedical research to a non‑academic audience, emphasizing clarity, societal relevance, and real‑world outcomes will be discussed.

This seminar is aimed at KI researchers who are curious about philanthropic funding, donor engagement, or are looking for tips on how to present their research effectively to external supporters.
