Title: Prison and Health - Epidemiological Considerations through Different Lenses
Abstract
A prison sentence in most societies can be associated with various health conditions and health-related outcomes of interest. Epidemiological research focusing on the dynamics between prison and health has the potential to contribute to improved health outcomes for incarcerated individuals, as well as lead to broader societal benefits, including better public health and reduced recidivism. However, it is a research area closely linked to political, legal, and societal norms and decisions.
In this popular science presentation, an introduction to the relationship between prison and health by taking viewpoints from multiple scientific disciplines to inform epidemiological and medical research will be given. No previous knowledge is needed.
