Dr. Hswen will give a special WISE talk on artificial intelligence, health, and equity, offering new insights into how societal values are shaped online.
Dr. Yulin Hswen’s research harnesses large-scale organic online data - to uncover patterns in human beliefs and behaviors, offering new insights into how societal values are shaped online. She will also expose latent sexism in artificial intelligence and ethical AI integration in science and health.
The seminar is relevant to everyone using AI or digital health data.

About Dr. Yulin Hswen
Dr. Yulin Hswen is an Associate Professor at the University of California, San Francisco, and a leader in computational epidemiology and digital health. Her research explores how unstructured organic online data can reveal truths about human beliefs and behaviors, particularly in understanding social biases, and the ethical design of AI systems. She is the youngest female Associate Editor at JAMA and the founding editor of JAMA+ AI, where she leads conversations at the intersection of artificial intelligence, health, and equity.
