Beyond routine cancer registration: the role of clinical cancer registries in support of quality control and research

Abstract/speaker

At present there are more than 100 Swedish clinical quality registries across many disease areas that play a crucial role for continuous improvement in the provision of care. Mats was previously the Director of the Regional Oncological Centre in Uppsala and Head of registry operations at the Regional Cancer Centre in Central Sweden. He will share his experience of working with the development of clinical cancer registries and their utility for quality control and research. While data in the clinical quality registries are used for research, they remain underused.

Mats will provide examples of studies based on clinical cancer registries, and how to get access to already existing linked research databases where the study populations are defined by individuals registered in a clinical cancer registry.

Join the faculty event in Wargentin! After the seminar, the faculty lunch will be served in Ljusgården. The faculty lunches are intended for employees at MEB, and a monthly net salary deduction of 260 SEK will be made for those who work here 20% or more.
