Title
Safety and Effectiveness of ADHD Medications: What Population Studies Tell Us
Abstract
ADHD is a common neurodevelopmental disorder that affects daily functioning in both children and adults. Randomized controlled trials have demonstrated the short-term efficacy of ADHD medications, but questions remain about their long-term safety and effectiveness in real-world settings. This talk examines insights from large-scale population studies on the real-world impact of ADHD medications by using advanced analytical approaches, such as target trial emulation and within-individual comparison that enhance causal inference in observational research. The talk will conclude with future directions, focusing on the effectiveness and safety of psychotropic medication, including ADHD medication, use during breastfeeding and its implications for maternal and child health.
About the speaker
Lin Li is a postdoctoral researcher from Psychiatric and Pharmaco-epidemiology – Zheng Chang's Research Group, with a strong interest in understanding ADHD through large-scale data. Lin’s current research explores how ADHD and its treatments relate to cardiovascular disease risk in adults, evaluates the safety and effectiveness of major psychotropic medications using Swedish National Registers.
