Curt von Euler was professor in brain research at the Karolinska Institutet. His legacy is that respiration is not only an automatic process but also a behavior. He was in the forefront of brain research covering breathing and temperature control, brain development, dyslexia etc.
Curt collaborated particularly with a research team at the Case Western Reserve in Cleveland. Richard Martin is a pediatrician and a leading researcher in that group and is famous for his outstanding studies of the pathogenesis of apnea .
