Anniversary issue of Pharmacological Reviews celebrates collaboration with FyFa
The Department of Physiology & Pharmacology (FyFa) is celebrating 75 years at Campus Solna. This milestone is marked by, among other things, a special issue of Pharmacological Reviews, celebrating the long-standing collaboration between the department and the journal, both of which celebrating the 75th anniversary this year.
The anniversary issue of Pharmacological Reviews includes contributions from FyFa researchers covering a range of topics, including advances in nitric oxide research, class F G protein-coupled receptors, neuroactive kynurenines as pharmacological targets, and pharmacological approaches to hearing loss.
This special issue also highlights FyFa's commitment to bridging the gap between preclinical discoveries and patient care, particularly in the age of big data and artificial intelligence.
Additionally, a cover art competition was held for the anniversary issue, with Dr. Magdalena Scharf’s artwork, "Pharmacology in the Age of Artificial Intelligence," selected as the winner.
The Department of Physiology & Pharmacology, originally founded as separate physiology and pharmacology units, moved to Solna in 1949, where it has since contributed significantly to both scientific research and global pharmacological advancements.
FyFa researchers, including Nobel laureate Ulf von Euler, Börje Uvnäs, and Bertil Fredholm, have played pivotal roles in this collaboration shaping modern pharmacology in Sweden and internationally.
As FyFa looks toward the future, the department continues to integrate cutting-edge research with clinical applications, embodying the spirit of translational science.
