On 25 September, Researchers’ Friday (Forskarfredag) was held at Albanova University Centre and at several other locations across Sweden. This year, the event celebrated its 20th anniversary while also looking ahead to the discoveries and solutions that may shape the next 20 years. Under the theme "The Future Mission", around 2000 upper secondary school students had the opportunity to meet researchers and students, discover current research and try out science in practice.

The initiative is part of the EU’s Researchers’ Night, which is always celebrated during the last week of September across Europe. At the Science fair at Albanova University Centre, visitors could try out instruments and laboratory equipment, take part in interactive activities and talk to researchers and students. Through the teaching material “Researcher Orientation”, pupils were guided in discovering the exhibition through questions and tasks that encouraged curiosity and dialogue.

Several KI researchers took part in the Science fair, lectures and the Researchers’ Grand Prix competition.

In addition to the activities at Albanova, KI researchers also took part in other events in Stockholm during the day. Lina-Marcela Diaz-Gallo and Adrián Garcia Moreno gave a lecture in Spanish on the theme From the city to the cell (De la ciudad a la célula) at Insitituo Cervantes. Study visits for upper secondary school classes were also organised during the day by SciLifeLab and The Cell, the National Museum of Science and Technology’s branch in Hagastaden.
