Who will recieve this years AI-prize at KI?

Thanks to a generous joint donation from the Lundblad and Thelin families, Karolinska Institutet (KI) has launched a strategic initiative in AI education and training, titled Advances in Artificial Intelligence – AI@KI.

As part of this initiative, the AI@KI prize will be awarded to one important advancement in AI, made at KI during the past year. The recipient of the prize is decided by the project group for AI@KI, that consist of Magnus Boman, Daniel Lundqvist, Anna Martling, and Mattias Rantalainen. However, anyone can nominate potential candidates, as long as they fulfill the inclusion criteria:

  • The nominee must be employed or affiliated at KI.
  • The AI contribution was published, preprinted or made otherwise openly available during the last 12 months.
  • A DOI and/or hyperlink is provided with the nominated contribution.

Nomination closes November 16.

Celebrating advances in AI

The prize ceremony will take place the 2nd of December at KI. The event will feature several outstanding achievements within AI in medicine during the past year at KI, as well as research in the area from other institutions.

More specifically, the program includes

  • A Keynote talk from Ziad Obermeyer, Associate Professor and Blue Cross of California Distinguished Professor at the Berkeley School of Public Health
  • Contributions from KI researchers working at the forefront of AI in medical research

This year is the second time ever the prize is awarded. Last year's AI@KI prize was awarded to Dr. Sara Hägg at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, KIm she received the prize warded for her advances in research into biological aging, where she uses the possibilities of AI and statistical innovations. Her outstanding work in improving the so-called "epigenetic clock" has significantly increased their reliability.
