We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and presented at the very first Swedish Suicide Research Conference – a platform designed to promote high-quality, research-driven discussions on suicide and suicide prevention.

The inaugural Swedish Suicide Research Conference (SSRC) was held on May 6–7, 2025, at the World Trade Center in Stockholm. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all our participants, speakers, management team, committees, volunteers, and funders (FORTE, Karolinska Institutet and Region Stockholm) who made this conference possible. Your dedication and insights, from inspiring presentations to engaging discussions, have been invaluable to the success of the conference.

The conference brought together participants active in research, healthcare, public agencies, and NGOs. The purpose of the conference was to create a platform for discussing research methods, exchanging knowledge, and bridging the gap between research, policy, and implementation, as well as promoting international collaboration. The conference gathered over 150 participants from eight countries: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Australia, and the United States.

During the conference, we had the opportunity to listen to several interesting presentations on current suicide research. Topics covered included genetic and biological factors, suicide within different societal groups, suicide risk assessments, public health and clinical interventions and epidemiology. In total, we listened to over 70 presentations and viewed more than 20 poster presentations – and engaged in many interesting and important discussions.

We look forward to receiving feedback from those who attended, and we hope to have the opportunity to organise this conference again in the future and see you again!

Thank you all once again for your participation and contributions to the conference. We encourage you to stay in touch and continue the dialogues and connections that emerged during the conference.
