StratNeuro Call 2026: Funding for postdoctoral researchers

The purpose of this grant is to support outstanding postdoctoral researchers in basic and clinical neuroscience who are already conducting research at KI and need support to continue and complete their projects.

General eligibility 

• Applicants must currently have a postdoc position (employment or affiliation) at KI;
• Applicants must have started their postdoctoral position at KI before the 1st of October 2024;
• The duration of the postdoc position must not exceed 6 years by the 31st of December, 2027;
• Previous awardees of StratNeuro postdoc funding are not eligible.

Application

• Basic information (project title, group affiliation)
• Project summary
• Project description: should include preliminary data, figures, project time frame, and references (max 3 pages and 4 MB)
• Biographical sketch of the postdoctoral applicant, including current/pending sources of support and a list of the 5 most relevant publications (max 2 pages and 1 MB)
• Motivation: describe how the StratNeuro funding will promote completion of the project
• Document signed by the head of department and the head of administration, that includes:
  • a) certificate of the applicant’s employment or affiliation (i.e. confirming the applicant’s employment or affiliation, including date when the postdoc position started)
  • b) statement agreeing to host the researcher during the project.

Submission

You can submit your application from 2 March until 4 May at 14.00 CET.

Submissions are done via KI Prisma.

Note: The "Calculated project time" appearing in the Basic Information tab is automatically calculated by the system, and cannot be changed. The funds can be used until 31 December 2027.

Selection criteria

• Merits of the applicant (note: the postdoc is the applicant, not the group leader)
• Scientific quality of the project, with strong consideration for preliminary data
• Novelty and originality
• Feasibility

Funding amount and conditions

• StratNeuro will fund up to 10 grants, each with 800,000 SEK.
• The funds can only be used to finance the applicant's salary costs, including indirect costs.
• Funding cannot be used to finance stipends.
• Funding will be limited to a maximum of two postdoctoral researchers per group, and funded projects must not overlap.
• Funds awarded must be expended no later than 31 December 2027. Funds not used within this period will be transferred back to StratNeuro.

Decisions will be announced at the end of September.
