The two-day conference, Collaboration in Science 2022, is held on 6 and 7 October at KI’s Campus Flemingsberg. During the conference, participants will learn about the extensive research being conducted at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital.

“It is to strengthen the collaboration between experimental and clinical research in order to stimulate translational research at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital. And it is especially exciting to be able to hold a conference of this size on Campus Flemingsberg together with my colleague Annika Bergquist, who is the site manager at Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge.

“This is a comprehensive conference that spans everything from, for example, ageing to cell biology and transplantation, sepsis, COVID-19 and nursing. It has been a challenge to create a programme that captures all of the research we are engaged in, and I am very proud to say that we have managed to do just that.

Who is the conference intended for?

“Researchers at Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital. There has been a tremendous interest, and we have approximately 430 registered participants. And although we are focusing on research, there is also a portion that includes education that aims to stimulate collaboration between education and research.

“We will also have an exhibition during the conference with around 140 posters and representation from our core facilities who will present their activities and what they have to offer.

What do you hope to achieve through Collaboration in Science 2022?

“I hope that the participants will get a better overview of the research we are doing, the tremendous opportunities offered by both Karolinska Institutet and Karolinska University Hospital, and go home with ideas for new projects and collaborations. The hope is that this conference can become a recurring event, where we can also invite researchers from other universities and hospitalsin the region in the future.“
