Blasting for the new metro line - report sensitive equipment in Biomedicum

Blasting for new metro tracks and entrances began in 2020, and the blasting work is expected to be completed by early 2026. During 2025-2026, blasting for new metro tracks and entrances may affect instruments in Biomedicum that are sensitive to vibrations.

Previously (2019 to 2021), blasting work occurred around Biomedicum and under Solnavägen from the direction of Torsplan. Between March and May 2019, Stockholm County inventoried instruments in Biomedicum that are sensitive to vibrations, followed by the installation of protective measures where necessary.

New instruments may howver have been purchased or moved into Biomedicum since then. Blasting work will approach Biomedicum under Solnavägen from the direction of SciLifeLab during 2025 and a few months into 2026. According to the current planning, breakthrough to the already existing tunnels with take place around the end of 2025 near the entrance to Biomedicum.

All instruments that are sensitive to vibrations shall be reported. More information about which equipment could be sensitive to vibrations is found under Documents.

Make sure to contact FM Helpdesk if new instruments in Biomedicum need to be included in the inventory to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to protect them once the construction works approach Biomedicum.
