On March 1st, Kristina Aspvall took over as the new Director of Research school for clinicians in psychiatry.

Kristina is a psychologist in child and adolescent psychiatry in Stockholm and she defended her thesis in 2020 with the aim of developing and evaluating new methods to increase accessibility to treatment for children and adolescents with obsessive-compulsive disorder. In connection with her research, an internet treatment was developed that is now implemented and used within Region Stockholm. After her PhD, she has been active as a researcher in several projects and is currently working on the world's first prevention study for children at risk of developing OCD. Now she is also looking forward to her new role as director of studies:

-It feels incredibly fun and great to be entrusted with this assignment! When I was in the Research school for clinicians in psychiatry, the course offerings and the network with other doctoral students were very valuable for my own research career. I also became interested in working more with teaching. It will be an extremely exciting challenge to continue developing the Research school for clinicians in psychiatry!

What will you bring to your new role?

-I will bring my experience of teaching in other contexts and I look forward to continuing to develop pedagogy with the other teachers. I will want to work with gradual changes to improve the education and ensure that the PhD students get valuable skills to become the leading researchers of the future!

Kristina took over as Director on March 1st. The Research school for clinicians in psychiatry is a collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and Region Stockholm and is aimed at doctoral students who are clinically active in Region Stockholm's area of activity.
