NASP Team Attends EXPERIENCE Consortium Meeting in Rome
National centre for suicide research and prevention (NASP) recently participated in the periodic EXPERIENCE Consortium Meeting, held on September 19-20, 2024, in Rome, Italy. Hosted by Tor Vergata University of Rome, the meeting brought together members of the consortium to review the progress of the EXPERIENCE project, a groundbreaking initiative exploring the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in clinical settings.
At the meeting, discussions centered around the final analysis of a pilot study, which applied cognitive, behavioural, and physiological data collected in VR to assess depressive symptoms. The NASP team plays a key role in the clinical application of this innovative technology.
With the conclusion of the pilot study, the project now moves into its third phase, where the focus shifts to exploring potential treatment pathways using VR. New studies related to these treatment approaches are set to begin soon in Italy. This phase marks an exciting step forward in integrating advanced VR technology into mental health care, with promising implications for the future of depression treatment.
