NASP redesignated as WHO Collaborating Centre
NASP has been redesignated as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research, Methods Development and Training in Suicide Prevention.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has redesignated the National Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention (NASP) as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research, Methods Development and Training in Suicide Prevention, under WHO’s reference number SWE-52.
Vladimir Carli, lecturer, chief physician, and head of NASP at Karolinska Institutet, and Danuta Wasserman, Professor at NASP, will act as Heads of the Centre.
NASP - National Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention
Since 1993, the National centre for suicide research and prevention (NASP) has collaborated with the government, decision-makers in Region Stockholm, and residents to create an evidence-based knowledge foundation, foster development, and facilitate knowledge dissemination. Our mission is to reduce suicide and suicide attempts on local, regional and national levels. This is achieved through research, strategic public health work, education, and information dissemination.

WHO Collaboration Centres
WHO collaborating centres are institutions such as research institutes, parts of universities or academies, which are designated by the Director-General to carry out activities in support of the Organization's programmes. Currently there are over 800 WHO collaborating centres in over 80 Member States working with WHO on areas such as nursing, occupational health, communicable diseases, nutrition, mental health, chronic diseases and health technologies.
