KI delegation visits China and Hong Kong

KI SDU symposium

A Karolinska Institutet (KI) delegation led by KI Vice President Martin Bergö visited Hong Kong and mainland China in November to deepen academic partnerships and connection with KI alumni and to participate in a joint KI-SDU symposium.

The delegation paid a series of official visits at KI strategic partners, such as Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Fudan University Shanghai Medical College, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Shandong University. The delegation had discussed and explored collaboration opportunities in medical education, medical engineering innovation, and joint research initiatives.

The delegation also hosted the KI Alumni China Chapter 2025 at Shandong University, gathering almost 100 participants, including 70 alumni. The evening featured speeches by KI Vice President Prof. Martin Bergö and alumni representatives, highlighting the impact of KI experiences on academic development and future collaboration. The presentations were followed by networking and a dinner reception.

The delegation trip has been fruitful, implemented with ground-touching discussions on student and faculty mobility and new research collaboration initiatives, underscoring KI’s dedication to global engagement and innovation in health sciences.
