KI awarded funding for interdisciplinary collaboration between China and Sweden for corona and virus research
Four KI researchers are to receive funding from the Swedish Research Council and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) for interdisciplinary collaboration projects on corona and virus research in the call for applications “Project grant for cross-disciplinary collaboration between China and Sweden on corona and virus research”.
The decision means that the Swedish Research Council will allocate SEK 36 million to funded researchers from Sweden during the grant period 2021-2023. The researchers who will receive the funding are:
- Marcus Buggert, at the Department of Medicine, Huddinge, will receive funding of SEK 9,000,000 for the project “Interdisciplinary framework for adaptive cellular immunity to SARS-CoV-2”.
- Sara Hägg, at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, will receive funding of SEK 9,000,000 for the project “Wuhan interaction with Stockholm (WISER) - an evidence-based research project on health perspectives in the older population during the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak”.
- Qiang Pan Hammarström, at the Department of Biosciences and Nutrition, will receive funding of SEK 9,000,000 for the project “Mucosa immunity to SARS-CoV-2 - a neglected field”.
- Anna Smed Sörensen, at the Department of Medicine, Solna, will receive funding of SEK 9,000,000 for the project “Immunological protection after the COVID-19 illness and the COVID-19 vaccination”.
