Kathrin Wode receives award for excellent research in Integrative Medicine
Kathrin Wode, postdoctoral researcher at the Division of Clinical Geriatrics, has been awarded a prestigious prize at the World Congress “3rd World Congress on Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine” in Rio de Janeiro.

The award was given for her large clinical study on mistletoe extract in pancreatic cancer: MISTRAL – Mistletoe Extract in Patients With Advanced Pancreatic Cancer: a Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial.
“I was especially pleased to receive this award because they recognize the study design and quality,” says Kathrin Wode, postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society. “The fact that the study was honored even though it did not show any effect of one of the most commonly used herbal medicines in complementary and integrative medicine demonstrates a maturity in this relatively young research field.”
In addition, Kathrin Wode is co-author of a highly influential article on acupuncture guidelines, for which the lead author received the prestigious ISCMR Scientific Article Award.
