The Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research (ABMR) awards Josefin Särnholm the Neal Miller New Investigator Award.

The Neal Miller New Investigator Award is a prestigious award in behavioral medicine in the United States and is awarded in competition with researchers from all over the country. The award is given to Josefin Särnholm, doctor of medicine and licensed psychologist, for her groundbreaking research in cardiovascular behavioural medicine.

By developing scalable psychological interventions, she has addressed critical clinical needs in cardiac care. Her research focuses on integrating psychological treatments into cardiac care to address psychological factors that negatively affect heart health. The nomination was based, among other things, on Josefin Särnholm's article, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, which was conducted at Karolinska Institutet.

Currently, Josefin Särnholm is conducting a two-year postdoc at the Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health at Columbia University in New York City, USA, she otherwise works as a researcher and teacher at the Division of Psychology, Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet. Her nomination for the award was supported by two professors at Karolinska Institutet, her mentor at Columbia University and a professor at Yale University.

This spring, Josefin Särnholm will have the opportunity to present her work through an Award Lecture in North Carolina, USA, in connection with ABMR's annual meeting.
