Dental hygienists held a webinar for the Zimbabwe Dental Association
In 2025, dental educators from Uganda and Zimbabwe visited Dentmed. During the visit, Jonas Erdenborg and Michelle Lau met with colleagues from the dental education programme in Zimbabwe and provided information about the dental hygienist programme at Karolinska Institutet, as well as the importance of preventive care in dentistry. The dental hygienist profession exists in Zimbabwe, but the number of practitioners is limited.
During the visit, an interest emerged in preventive dental care in Sweden and in the role of the dental hygienist. On 19 March 2026, a webinar for the Zimbabwe Dental Association was held, led by Jonas Erdenborg and Michelle Lau. Around 50 dentists participated.
During the webinar, the dental hygienist programme at Karolinska Institutet, the preventive role of dental hygienists, and the collaboration between dental hygienists and dentists in Sweden were presented. Participants were also given the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussions.
