Comment on statement from the University of Gothenburg about suspected misconduct in research
A complaint was filed in July 2018 against the vice president of Karolinska Institutet (KI), Karin Dahlman-Wright, for suspicion of research misconduct. In order to avoid conflict of interest, in August 2018, KI reached an agreement with the University of Gothenburg to manage the investigation.
The Council for Investigations of Suspected Misconduct in Research at the University of Gothenburg has now submitted its statement report to KI. In its statement the council, among other things, considers that concerning one article, the vice president of KI is responsible for errors committed that amount to scientific misconduct. The decision in the misconduct case will be made by the president of Karolinska Institutet in accordance with extant regulations, which means that the authors concerned will have the opportunity to comment on the content of the statement. Thereafter, the president will make a decision on the basis of the collected material.
The vice president is appointed by the KI University Board (Konsistoriet). The board chairman, Mikael Odenberg, has therefore summoned the board to an extra meeting on Monday at 17:30.
