Our Centre sees inspiring people coming and going, yet we maintain a high quality of our services to deliver the best human potential.
It is with pride that the Centre for Gender Medicine wishes the best of luck to one of its most appreciated member: the experience designer Fernanda Torre, who left the group to take on new challenges for the industry.
Following numerous external collaborations with the Centre (among which is the management of Nov2k) Fernanda became our stable member in 2013. Fernanda studied Experience Design at Konstfack, the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.
Fernanda has a colorful and diverse career, in harmony with the CfGM philosophy and way of thinking. She is the director of FRAMES Portuguese Film Festival, has worked with the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University, and at the Swedish Institute facilitating Balticlab, a project aimed at increasing integration in the Baltic Sea Region through creativity and entrepreneurship. Fernanda is also a founding partner of "We Have Company”, a co-creation and open innovation co-working space in Stockholm.
After two intense years, Fernanda leaves her position of designer and communication manager at CfGM to join Stora Enso, a Finnish company with base in Stockholm.

With Fernanda departure and more things than ever brewing in the Centre, the CfGM welcomes on board Erika Tanos and Monika Misiowiec, as new team members.
Erika Tanos trained in anthropology, and works in the intersection of divergent disciplines to tackle social challenges. She adopts a human centered approach and socio-cultural understanding to undertake any new tasks. The previous years she has participated in various international projects related to innovation, complex and creative problem solving, experience design and future thinking. She also took part in a cutting-edge interdisciplinary program at Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship.
Her role at the Centre for Gender Medicine will be to promote the gender dimension in education and research, connect to new areas and enable innovative solutions.
Monika Misiowiec has a bachelor degree in international relations and development studies from Sussex University in Brighton, as well as a master degree in counseling psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. She began her career in the non-profit sector in the field of global and maternal health as well as grassroots community building. She later worked with education and training, focusing on experiential learning, group process and leadership development. She also worked as a psychotherapist with clients in the U.S, and now continues running her part-time therapy practice in Stockholm.
At the CfGM Monika is responsible for coordinating and developing the center’s educational activities, such as our course ’Health and Disease from a Gender Perspective’, our freshly launched MOOC ’Gender, Health and Rights’ as well as our seminars and lecture series. Monika also works with international collaborations with the goal of implementing the gender dimension in education and research worldwide.
Thanks to these new outstanding professionals in the team, the CfGM will continue to deliver excellent service, support and inspiration to encourage generation of doctors on sex and gender in medical research.
