Call for planning grant applications in collaboration with University College London
KI’s Internationalisation Board is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of competitive planning grants to support collaboration with University College London (UCL).
The purpose of this funding is to support collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and UCL, in particular, to develop competitive research and innovation proposals within the Horizon Europe.
However, applications targeting other funding calls (VR among others) are also eligible.
If the proposal includes additional partners, collaborations involving institutions from the Stockholm Trio (KTH and Stockholm University) will be considered a merit.
- The grant provides funding of up to SEK 40 000 (including indirect costs, INDI) per application.
- Applicants should clearly describe the activities planned to develop their future funding proposal.
Who can apply
These planning grants are intended for researchers with well-developed project ideas and offer an opportunity to deepen, strengthen, and further develop their upcoming applications.
The funding supports the preparation of high-quality, well-coordinated proposals.
If KI is not the coordinating institution, KI’s role and contribution must be clearly defined.
Costs and proposal
- The planning grant should be used to develop an application for a funding call, for example through visits, meetings, and activities that contribute to the proposal-writing process.
- Eligible costs include travel and subsistence, consumables, cost associated with organising writing the application.
- The fund does not support equipment, scholarships, conference attendance, or tuition fees.
- There can be no transfer of funds between institutions.

- One or more of the collaborators in the project are from KTH or SU
