Associate professor's Adrian Elmi-Terander and Erik Edström at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, in a collaboration involving Capio Spine Center Stockholm, Karolinska Institutet and Augmented Navigation, welcomes you to a symposium focusing on intraoperative workflow, solutions and innovations.

- Associate professor Anders Ahlsson
The Director of Healthcare at Region Stockholm and associate professor in cardiac surgery. He was previously the managing director of cardiac and neurological care at Karolinska University Hospital.
- Professor Maja Jagodic
The the head of Neuro Division at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institute. She is also Professor of Neuroinflammation, Associate Professor in Experimental Medicine, and research group leader for research on epigenetics of Multiple Sclerosis at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, and the Center for Molecular Medicine.
- MD, PhD Patrick Vigren
Head of department of Neurosurgery at Örebro University Hospital. He is an experienced consultant neurosurgeon and neurologist with a highly specialized profile in awake tumor and epilepsy surgery and decades of executive and strategic positions in healthcare and professional organizations.
- Professor Michelle Chew
Professor and senior consultant in anesthesiology and intensive care at Karolinska University Hospital. She is an experienced Senior Consultant with a demonstrated history of working in intensive care, research and education. Skilled in Epidemiology, Healthcare, Clinical Research, Medical Education, and Life Sciences. Faculty member of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine.
MD, PhD Niklas Jonsson
Senior consultant anesthesiologist at Capio Spine Center Stockholm. He is a consultant in anesthesiology and intensive care and emergency care. His thesis described biomarkers of infection and organ failure in intensive care. He conducts education in point of care ultrasound, CRRT, and neuroanesthesia. He was previously director of studies for anesthesia and intensive care at Karolinska University Hospital.Mr Lewis Thorne BSc, MB ChB, FRCS
Consultant neurosurgeon at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) at Queen Square, London, UK. He graduated from Edinburgh University in 1995 and completed his postgraduate training in London, becoming a consultant in 2007. He has a specialist interest in the management of brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, and hydrocephalus.
MD, Rafael Holmgren
Head of pediatric neurosurgery and CSF disorders at the Department of neurosurgery in Linköping, Sweden. His ongoing thesis and research is on volumetrics and proteomics in normal pressure hydrocephalus. He is the author of several chapters in the upcoming textbook on posttraumatic hydrocephalus.
Associate prof. Anna Falk Delgado
Experienced Associate Professor and Senior Consultant in Neuroradiology with a demonstrated history of working in medical healthcare and clinical science. Skilled in Positron Emission Tomography, Neuroradiology, Neuroimaging, Healthcare, and Meta-analysis.
MD, PhD Sami Abu Hamdeh
Senior consultant neurosurgeon at the department of neurosurgery at Uppsala Academic University Hospital. His focus is on functional and pediatric neurosurgery.
Professor Magnus Kaijser
Professor, senior consultant and head of the department of neuroradiology at Karolinska University Hospital. He has worked with both clinical epidemiology and neuroradiology. In his research, he combines these two fields to study the use of diagnostic radiology in healthcare. The aim of his work is to study the use of
diagnostic radiology and to create a basis for its improvement.Professor Claudius Thomé
Professor and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Medical University of Innsbruck. His main interests during his academic career have been education and scientific exchange. Over the past 15 years, he has been intensely involved in EANS and its committees such as the Young Neurosurgeons Committee and the Training Committee. He has actively participated in many scientific committees over the years and as president of the Austrian Society of Neurosurgery, the Austrian Spine Society and the Austrian Society of Surgery he has provided great experience in setting up scientific programs.
Associate professor Victor Staartjes
Neurosurgery resident currently completing an enfolded fellowship in spinal surgery. He has previously trained at the University Hospital Zurich under Prof. Luca Regli and Dr. Carlo Serra with main clinical interests in skull base and spine surgery. He is an active researcher in the Augmented Neurosurgery group, with specialization in the application of machine intelligence. He is also the principal investigator of the Machine Intelligence in Clinical Neuroscience (MICN) Laboratory at the University of Zurich.
MD, PhD David Werner
His thesis concerned developing a practical tool for utilizing and communicating information from a clinical registry to patients and surgeons, aimed at improving quality and shared decision making in spine surgery.
MD, PhD Clemns Weber
Senior consultant neurosurgeon at the department of neurosurgery, Stavanger University Hospital, Norway. His research has been on traumatic Injuries to the central nervous system – epidemiological studies on local trauma registries, The National Trauma Registry of Norway and The National Trauma Registry Network of New Zealand
Professor Tiit Mathiesen
Professor and senior consultant neurosurgeon at University of Copenhagen and department of neurosurgery, Rigshospitalet, Copenhagen, Denmark. He was previously an adjunct professor at Karolinska Institute. Nationally and internationally active in his subspecialties with a scientific focus on ethics, skull base surgery, vascular surgery and meningioma. He is the editor of Acta Neurochirurgica.
PhD Miriam Bopp
Head of Medical Technology lab at the department of neurosurgery, University Hospital of Marburg, Germany. Her research focuses on technical aspects of neuronavigation and augmented reality.Associate Professor Adrian Elmi-Terander

He has more than 20 years of experience in the field with a focus on spinal neurosurgery. His research is mainly on spine surgery, surgical techniques and how to avoid complications with specific focus on surgical navigation technologies and augmented reality.
Associate Professor Erik Edström
Senior consultant and an associate professor of neurosurgery at Capio Spine Center Stockholm and Karolinska Institute. His clinical focus is on spinal and pediatric neurosurgery. His research is mainly on spinal cord injury, spinal and cranial navigation technologies including augmented reality, and population-based studies.
