Lectures and seminars Seminar with Professor Olle ten Cate on scholarship in health professions education
Scholarship in health professions education has expanded quickly in the past decades. Why are the health professions so much more interested in understanding and developing the dynamics and methods of learning, teaching, and assessment than any other higher education domain? In this talk, Professor Olle ten Cate will dive into its nature and limitations, but also the unique opportunities for researchers in health professions education.

Welcome to the second seminar of KI’s strategic medical education research initiative!
The event will start with a lecture by Professor Olle ten Cate, Emeritus Professor of Medical Education at Utrecht University and Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. He is an internationally recognised leader in health professions education, known especially for his pioneering work on competency-based medical education and entrustable professional activities (EPAs). He has published extensively, mentored numerous doctoral students, and received multiple international awards for his contributions to medical education.
The seminar then continues with a workshop on how to develop the research network in medical education at Karolinska Institutet, which has received resources as part of the KI president's long-term investment in research in medical education. The network was created in 2022 and has so far attracted just over 60 researchers and doctoral students.
