Other Seminar on threats to academic freedom: Ten years since the imprisonment of Ahmadreza Djalali
Welcome to a public seminar that highlights threats to academic freedom, focusing on the case of Ahmadreza Djalali, who has been imprisoned in Iran for ten years under threat of execution.
Karolinska Institutet will host a public seminar on threats to academic freedom and the persecution of scholars, with a particular focus on the case of Ahmadreza Djalali – a Swedish citizen and researcher formerly affiliated with KI – who has been imprisoned in Iran for ten years following an unfair trial and remains under threat of execution. The current instability in Iran further increases the risks for Djalali and other political prisoners.
About the seminar
The seminar brings together speakers and panellists from academia, diplomacy and human rights organisations to discuss the increasing pressures faced by scholars worldwide and how universities and society can respond when academic freedom is under attack. The seminar will be held mainly in Swedish. Light refreshments will be served after the seminar.
