Title: "Axon transport in the adult CNS: a target for optic nerve regeneration and neuroprotection in the retina”

The axon repair team is focused on repairing injured or diseased axons in the optic nerve, brain and spinal cord.

Dr Richard Eva and his reasearch Group study the axonal signalling and transport mechanisms that allow for axon growth during development and modify these in the adult to enable regeneration after injury.
Using a gene therapy approach we have found specific organelles that can be targeted, not only for regeneration in the optic nerve, but also for neuroprotection in the retina.
