Lectures and seminars Patient and Public Involvement in Practice: What Healthcare Researchers Can Learn from Aphasia Research
A Global Bridge seminar with Marina Charalamobous, Cyprus university. Malin Bauer, Uppsala University. Kajsa Söderhielm, Karolinska Institutet. Mathilda Cederlund, Afasiföreningen.

Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) is increasingly put forward as a means for making health research relevant. There is however a risk of excluding certain groups who are perceived as vulnerable or less capable of participating, for instance people with neurological disorders affecting cognition and communication.
The seminar offers an introduction to PPI followed by practical examples from the field of aphasia. To include the perspective of lived experience, Matilda Cederlund who has aphasia after a stroke and has participated in co-designing a training app will present her expertise along with researchers from Cyprus and Sweden.
