Speaker: Professor Jane Lucas
Title: Beating primary ciliary dyskinesia

About the speaker:

Jane Lucas is professor in paediatric respiratory medicine and consultant in paediatrics with subspecialty competence in respiratory and allergy medicine at University of Southampton and Southampton University Hospital. She completed her Phd at University of Southampton. 

Her current research and clinical work are in the main focused on primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD), a respiratory disease which affects both children and adults and is associated with bronchiectasis. This research has included epidemiological studies using lung function. She also has a great wealth of experience of epidemiological work in paediatrics, having published several articles using data from the Southampton Women’s survey. This cohort contains both mothers during their pregnancy and the subsequent offspring of that pregnancy. 

Through her clinical and research work, she has co-authored European Respiratory Society clinical guidelines on PCD and asthma in childhood.  For her expertise in epidemiological research, through her research on pregnancy cohorts, lung function and growth as well has her clinical expertise within the field of paediatric respiratory,  we have invited her to give this talk on “Beating PCD”.
