Anna Rossander presents a study about using ontologies (in this case Snomed CT) to transform information between different information models.

In her work as an urologist Anna became increasingly frustrated with the limitations, dysfunctional healthcare information systems and lack of interoperability, which made it difficult for me and my colleagues to provide good and effective care.

Her curiosity was piqued about possible solutions, and in 2018 she began working full-time in health informatics. Since then, she has focused on researching and developing solutions for increased interoperability, with a particular emphasis on the use of Snomed CT and information models.

About the seminar: Structured information is a cornerstone for information sharing, yet in health care data is stored according to many different standards and proprietary formats. While harmonisation efforts exist, a single universal structure is unrealistic, making transfers between formats inevitable. Today, this is often done through manual mapping or re-entry, both labour-intensive and error-prone.
In this study, we explore whether differences between information structures can be bridged by linking them to an ontology through terminology binding.

All are welcome!

HI Conversations

Health Informatics Conversations are inspiring discussions about current topics in health informatics, kicked off by an inspirational speaker who introduces the topic.

Open configuration options

The Health Informatics Conversations are recurring every month at 12.00 via Zoom and last for one hour. This hour includes 20 minutes of presentation and leaves the rest of the time for discussions, all in English.

If you are a PhD-student – this is a credit-bearing activity, as long as the topic is relevant for your research.

The seminar series is organized within the framework of the EU-project Health Data Sweden (HDS). In the project, we support small and medium-sized enterprises (SME's) by offering various services. These services do not cost anything,  however, your company needs to sign a certificate to take part in this service.

"Health Data Sweden (HDS) is a one-stop shop for increasing digital transformation in health data for SMEs and the public sector, using key technologies".
