Lectures and seminars HER MIND seminar series: Women's health studies at the Estonian Biobank
ProfessorTriin Laisk, University of Tartu
In this talk, Professor Laisk will present ongoing research projects from her team and discuss how large-scale genomic and health data can help uncover the biological mechanisms linking reproductive health to broader health outcomes. She will also introduce the planned Estonian Biobank Women’s Health Study questionnaire, which aims to collect more detailed information on women’s reproductive and hormonal health, addressing important gaps in existing health data and creating new opportunities for research.
Speaker: Triin is a Professor of Genomic Epidemiology at the University of Tartu, Estonia, where her research focuses on understanding the genetic and biological mechanisms underlying women’s health. In 2025, she was awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant for her project UNDERwHER (Understanding Women’s Health Through the Lens of Hormonal Sensitivity: Genetics, Mechanisms and Health Trajectories), which aims to investigate how individual differences in hormonal sensitivity shape women’s health and disease risk across the lifespan.
Moderator: Dr. Lu Yi, Institute for Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet.
