Title 

Possibilities and challenges with combining cancer registry data across countries to identify high-risk individuals – going Nordic and beyond

Abstract

Cancer is subdivided into different sites and subtypes leading to smaller numbers in both descriptive and clinical epidemiological studies. To increase the power when studying subgroups of patients, we need to combine data from different countries. I will give examples from my ongoing research where we combine data from the Nordic countries and the Netherlands. I will discuss the possibilities and challenges (practical, administrative and scientific) we face in these international collaborations, and look forward to hearing the experiences from others with similar collaborations.

About the speaker

Anna Johansson is docent and assistant professor at MEB, Karolinska Institutet. She has a background in statistics and cancer epidemiology. She received her PhD in 2016 and is Guest Researcher the Cancer Registry of Norway since 2019. Prior to her PhD she worked as an applied statistician in a wide range of epidemiological applications. Since 2016, her research focuses on population-based cancer epidemiology with a focus on clinically relevant research questions in reproduction and breast cancer, and also general descriptive cancer epidemiology in the NORDCAN/ANCR collaboration.
