Speaker; Thomas Frisell

The Nordic countries offer unique opportunities for epidemiology and public health research through their systems of national registers, covering most situations where residents interact with the welfare state, and possible to cross-link through the personal identity numbers. Maintaining a national register is no easy task, however, and studies using these data sources should be mindful of inherent limitations and issues concerning the coverage, delays, and the accuracy of the collected information.

In this seminar Thomas Frisell, Principal Researcher at KI and analyst at the National Board of Health and Welfare (Socialstyrelsen), will guide us through the national Swedish healthcare registers. What do they contain? How are they constructed? And above all: how good are they?

This seminar will be held in English.
