The Center for Bioinformatics and Biostatistics (CBB) presents a bioinformatics seminar.

Title: Pipelines for virus metagenomics

Speaker: Björn Andersson, Karolinska Institutet, CMB

Björn will describe the ongoing evolution of the group’s virology projects and the associated bioinformatics tools. The group has carried out virus discovery and characterization using metagenomic sequencing for many years and has published both new human viruses and entire virus metagenomes from various patient materials. Greater sequencing depths and more advanced computational tools have necessitated several overhauls of the analysis pipelines, and the presentation will describe the latest developments.

In addition, the group has developed tools for the analysis of variable chronic viruses, Anelloviruses, which are present in all humans. The research focuses on viral variation, interactions with the immune system, and possible disease associations.

Before the seminar, a limited number of sandwiches and drinks will be served on a “First come – first served” basis starting 12:00. Show up early and network!
