Welcome to an inspiring session with Gabrielle Finn. This webinar invites educators to explore creative, inclusive, and future-facing approaches to teaching in medical education using the arts and humanities, with a focus on sharing practice, sparking dialogue, and reimagining pedagogy for today’s learners. 

Aims of the session: 

  • Promote creative, inclusive, and future-oriented teaching in medical education through arts and humanities.
  • Encourage sharing and collaboration among educators for collective learning.
  • Stimulate discussion on enriching pedagogy and supporting diverse learners through arts and humanities.
  • Inspire innovation in teaching practices with practical strategies for learner engagement and holistic education.

Guest speaker

Professor Gabrielle Finn is Associate Vice-President (AVP) for Teaching, Learning and Students at theUniversity of Manchester. She is also Professor of Medical Education in the School of Medical Sciences. Gabrielle’s AVP portfolio focuses on: (1) assessment and feedback, (2) student voice, and (3) access, participation, and success. 

Between 2020 and 2023, she was the Vice-Dean for Teaching, Learning and Students for the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at the University of Manchester. Gabrielle was previously Founding Director of the Health Professions Education Unit (HPEU) and Chair of the Postgraduate Board at the Hull York Medical School (HYMS) where she worked extensively on widening access and curriculum development, including the implementation of Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships into medical programmes. 

Moderator: 
Dr. Amani Eltayb is an educational developer at the Unit for teaching and learning at KI. Her work involves consulting on course and curriculum development, training educators in active learning and assessment, promoting internationalisation and inclusivity within health professions education and empowering colleagues through evidence-based educational practices.
