How can we move from simply involving students to truly engaging them in their own learning?
Drawing from practical examples and research-based strategies, this session with Nicolas Ruffin, Pedagogical Ambassador for Doctoral Education, we explore how to design activities that foster reflection, empathy, and critical thinking; key skills for lifelong learning and professional growth.

In this session, Nicolas Ruffin, Pedagogical Ambassador for Doctoral Education at Karolinska Institutet, shares insights from his project on enhancing active learning and formative assessment in neuroscience doctoral courses. The session will be moderated by Amani Eltayb, educational developer at the Unit for Teaching and Learning.

Understanding and applying active learning tools effectively is essential for educators who aim not only to capture students’ attention but also to help them think deeply, enjoy learning, and sustain curiosity throughout their careers.

The Pedagogical Ambassador Programme at KI supports the development of innovative teaching practices in alignment with KI’s pedagogical policy and strategic focus on student-centered learning. Learn more about the initiative on the Pedagogical Ambassador website.
